1. 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO
The 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO has become the world’s most valuable car ever, recently being auctioned for $48.4 million (approximately Rs.340 crore). It was in June when we reported that the GTO could possibly be auctioned for around Rs 306 crore. But clearly, the actual action has exceeded expectations. The 250 GTO was auctioned off at RM Sotheby’s annual Monterey Collector’s Car Sale, setting a world record for any car sold at auction.
Over the years, the 250 GTO has become the car collector’s “holy grail,” and it all comes from its incredible pedigree, but also from a group of French collectors who first brought GTO owners together in 1982.
2. Bugatti La Voiture Noire
The world’s most expensive new car makes its North American debut this week at the world’s premier luxury auto show, the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, starting Tuesday in Monterey, California.
Bugatti unveiled the one-of-a-kind $18.68 million La Voiture Noire, which means The Black Car, at the Geneva International Motor Show in March. The car pays homage to the Art Deco design of the Type 57SC Atlantik, one of the most iconic classic cars in the world. Designed in 1934 by Jean Bugatti, the eldest son of company founder Ettore Bugatti, only four were built. Three are accounted for, while the fourth, which was lost in World War II, would be worth more than $100 million if found today.
The new La Voiture Noire packs 1,500 horsepower and 1,180 pound-feet of torque that propels it from 0 to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds. It is powered by a quad-turbo W-16 engine with a top speed of 261 mph.
“We produced a true one-off, single unit car, which we call Automotive Haute Couture,” said Bugatti’s design director, Achim Enschede. 3. Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta
At Rs 121 crore or US$ 17.6 million, the Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta becomes the most expensive car in the world. The title was previously held by the Rolls-Royce Sweattail – a one-time product priced at Rs 89 crore and designed in the shape of a yacht. Only three examples of the HP Barchetta exist, one of which is owned by the company’s founder, Horacio Pagani.
The Italian hypercar company first unveiled the Zonda HP Barchetta at the 2017 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The car was to be given as a gift to Horacio Pagani on his 60th birthday.
HP also celebrates the 18th anniversary of the Barchetta Pagani Zonda model; The car on which it is based. The Zonda model was produced from 1999 to 2017, after which it was replaced by the Pagani Huayra.
4. Bugatti Centodieci
In August of 2019, the Bugatti luxury brand celebrated its 110th anniversary with the unveiling of its most powerful hypercar ever, the Bugatti Centodis. 5. Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+
Two Years – That’s the time the wealthy owners of the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ have to wait to drive their prized and famous supercar. We me mortals are here just to witness and celebrate this occasion.
Bugatti’s record-breaking supercar went through two years of testing and development. Announced back in September 2019, the first batch of Chiron Super Sport 300+ is now on its way to its owners, however, only eight of them will be smiling from ear to ear.
“This is Bugatti’s fastest hyper sports car to date and a true testament to the engineering passion, technical expertise, and relentless pursuit of performance that our brand is synonymous with. To recall, Bugatti has reached a milestone in 2019 with a special Chiron Sport, topping 304.773 mph (490.484 kph) on the Ehra-Lesion test track. The Chiron Super Sport 300+ aims to celebrate that momentous occasion. The production version is built to support incredible speeds without sacrificing luxury and class.
6. Gordon Murray T.50
Gordon Murray’s T.50 is one of the most exciting new cars in a long time. Essentially the successor to the McLaren F1 – arguably the greatest car ever built – it packs power sending a naturally aspirated V-12 to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. But the car’s Ultima-based test mule can be even cooler than the T.50.
The small British automaker published a video on YouTube today of spokesman Dario Franchitti getting behind the wheel of “George,” an Ultima—a mid-engine supercar from a different small British automaker that usually rides a Chevy V-8 powered by a T. does sport. 50’s V-12 manual drivetrain.
Because the Ultima was never designed to fit the V-12, a lot of body modifications went through. At the rear, you’ll find a plethora of panels removed to accommodate the intake and exhaust setup. Upfront, most of the panels have been replaced by radiators to cool the 12,100-rpm motor.
7. Koenigsegg Jesko
Swedish hypercar maker Koenigsegg made a name for itself with the Agera RS. That model stood out as the world’s fastest production car, capable of hitting a top speed of 278 mph. Its replacement is the Jesco, a hypercar that is cut from the same mold as its most powerful predecessor. With its tufted gills, sinuous hooves, and sporadic tail, the jesco looks sharp and fearless. This is a modern automotive design. A 1280-hp V-8 delivers the muscle, backed by a state-of-the-art nine-speed transmission that was built in-house. Jesco starts at around $3 million. 8. Mercedes AMG One
After several delays for the Mercedes-AMG One supercar, there is going to be another delay. But then it is finally coming. Autocar first reported on Thursday that the One would arrive in mid-2022, and the brand confirmed from a roadshow that production will begin next year for the first deliveries.
Much work has gone into developing the supercar, which runs a powertrain derived from Mercedes-AMG’s Formula One race car. Since we’re talking about a 1,000-horsepower engine that was meant for track only, preparing the powertrain for road and regulatory use posed a number of challenges. This also includes the fact that this engine is meant to idle at around 5,000 rpm. Engineers needed a 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 hybrid that could idle at around 1,200 rpm, and according to the report, that was a huge challenge for the engineers on the project. The car will begin production of 275 units after four years of troubleshooting. Of course, they’re all sold out, even if you have millions of people sitting empty. But for those lucky customers, they’re finally getting one hell of a car after four years.
9. Aston Martin Valhalla
The 2024 Aston Martin Valhalla will be a mid-engine hypercar with a hybrid powertrain in the vein of the Ferrari SF90. The Aston’s exterior boasts an exaggerated version of the company’s grille along with slippery bodywork and a carbon-fiber engine cover. Carbon fiber also makes up its central tub, and the Valhalla’s exotic nature will be further accentuated by its dihedral doors. Power comes from a twin-turbo V-8 (sourced from Mercedes-AMG) and a plug-in hybrid system that together generates 937 horsepower. Aston estimates a top speed of 217 mph and a 2.5-second zero-to-62-mph time. The 2022 Valhalla will also have an EV mode, albeit with a very short all-electric range.
10. Ferrari SF90 Stradale
Depending on how you look at Ferrari, the SF90 is potentially controversial. It’s the firm’s new flagship, but it’s not powered by an original V12. Nor is it the only available-to-collector limited edition. This is 4wd. There are three electric motors. You can plug it in. It starts quietly, and it can drive quietly. Never before has there been a Ferrari that can do this. Nor is there one where the brake pedal is not directly connected to the calipers. Or without a mechanical rev counter behind the steering wheel. The gearbox doesn’t even have a reverse gear – but relax, there is one more.
And yet it is the fastest, most powerful road car Ferrari has ever produced. Faster around the home circuit than the LaFerrari, the Fiorano delivers 986bhp (that’s a metric 1,000hp) on the road – similar to the Bugatti Veyron, but with basically half the engine capacity and turbo, and weighing several hundred kilos less. . So yes, it is faster – 0-62mph in 2.5 seconds, 124mph in 6.7 seconds – the latter figure is 1.5 seconds ahead of the F8 Tributo, and in the same league as the Koenigsegg One:1 and McLaren Senna, both of which are in a different price league.
